Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 4, 2018) – Seth Bergman used a pair of top-five outings last weekend during the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals to pull within 16 points of the lead in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com championship standings.

Bergman continued his hot streak at Lake Ozark Speedway, where he was victorious earlier this year and hadn’t finished outside of the top five this season. He opened the weekend on Saturday by placing second in a heat race and third in a qualifier to rank 10th in event points out of more than 50 competitors.

That started Bergman on the outside of the fifth row for the 25-lap main event.

“We battled between eighth through 10th for the first half of the race before the car started to get a lot better,” he said. “We were really rolling late in the race. I wish we had a few more laps because I think we could have had a podium finish.”

Bergman used the late rally to finish fifth, which was only one position shy of garnering a lock-in position into Sunday’s feature redraw. That didn’t seem to slow Bergman, who charged from sixth to win a heat race at the start of Sunday’s show. He then maneuvered from sixth to fourth place in a qualifier to rank second in points, which started him sixth in the 41-lap A Main.

“We had a good start and picked off a couple of positions and then got up to third,” he said. “Midway through the race we challenged Derek Hagar for second in traffic, but I had to get on the brakes at one point and that allowed Brian Brown to get by so we settled for fourth.”

The fourth-place result was Bergman’s sixth consecutive top five at the track. It also marked his 14th top five during ASCS National Tour action this season. That ranks second best among the series competitors.

“Our goal is to win races, but like I’ve said before you have to be a consistent top-five team to be in position to win races,” he said. “We’re putting ourselves in the right position and with a handful of ASCS National Tour races remaining this season we’re aiming to visit Victory Lane a few more times.”

The next ASCS National Tour event is Sept. 20-22 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., for the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.
