Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Jan. 9, 2019) – The Team Eights duo of Tony Bruce Jr. and Seth Bergman will venture to the 33rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals next week in search of career-best outings at the oval inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Bruce Jr. posted a career-best finish in 2016 when he placed 12th in a preliminary night A Main before ending 13th in a B Main during the finale. Bergman recorded a career-best ninth-place run during preliminary action in 2015 before capping the event with a 19th-place finish in a B Main on the final night of competition. This year marks the first time with Bergman behind the wheel of a Team Eights entry during the Chili Bowl.

“It’s a team effort,” Bruce Jr. said. “I feel like it helps having a second car. Having someone like Seth that I can relate to and be able to bounce ideas off, I think it’s a big benefit in having a teammate.”

Bruce Jr. has been pleased with the team’s speed each year.

“We’ve always had really good speed,” he added. “We just need a couple of things to go our way. One year we were just outside the top five on our prelim night and broke a belt. That pretty much ended our event.”

This year Bruce Jr. will race next Tuesday with Bergman competing on Thursday, Jan. 17. The finale is Jan. 19.

“We’ve been working on the cars and got everything ready,” Bruce Jr. said. “As far as our program goes we’re right there. We have good speed in the race car. That’s always the hardest thing to find. Now we just have to go there and remain focused and get the job done.”
