Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (July 29, 2019) – It’s been a successful summer back home for Seth Bergman, who has spent the last two months competing in the Northwest.

Bergman has earned a trio of feature victories, including triumphs at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on June 1 and July 20 along with a trip to Victory Lane last Friday at Skagit Speedway during the opening night of the Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals.

“We’ve won some races and been competitive, but we haven’t won the big races we’ve wanted,” he said. “The consistency has been all right. We’re fighting for a win pretty much wherever we go. It’s frustrating that we haven’t won the big races, the ones that pay and that I want to win.”

Such was the case last weekend. Bergman was efficient throughout Friday’s preliminary night, qualifying fifth quickest, placing fourth in a heat race and leading the distance of the main event to score his fifth triumph of the season.

That locked him into the feature redraw for Saturday’s main event and Bergman pulled the No. 5 to line up on the inside of the third row.

“I lost a spot early and then charged up to second,” he said. “I had a shot to win with a few laps to go. Me and Jason (Solwold) were racing pretty good. A caution came out with two laps to go and it changed everything.

“Jason was running the middle and the top. The bottom wasn’t great, but it was good enough I got to him. In my mind he’s not leaving the top so I have to keep plugging away and make it happen. I couldn’t make enough speed up top to slide him. The caution comes out with two to go and I’m thinking he’s run the top the whole race. I thought he was going to the top (on the restart). I set up to rip two solid laps on the bottom and he went to the bottom. I was at his left rear and felt like I was going to drive by him before that caution came out. That’s part of racing. I need to make better decisions.”

Bergman held on for a third-place result, which marked his second podium during a marquee event at Skagit Speedway this season. He also ended the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup with a third-place run last month.

Bergman is scheduled to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore., with the Summer Thunder Sprint Series.
